Aloxi® (palonosetron hydrochloride) Injection was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 25, 2003 for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). Aloxi Injection is the first and only 5-HT3 receptor antagonist to be indicated for the prevention of both acute and delayed CINV caused by moderately emetogenic chemotherapy. In 2003, MGI PHARMA and Helsinn Healthcare SA expanded their exclusive United States and Canada license and distribution agreement for Aloxi Injection to include rights for the postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) application and an oral capsule formulation of Aloxi. |
